As always, we really liked the Marina Punat because of its modern and extremely well-maintained sanitary facilities.
Regarding the yacht handover: The "2024" Bavaria had some shortcomings. The main boom was tied up incorrectly (original quote: "that's how it is now", correction by the charterer). The anchor remote control was not on board, which was only noticed by chance and fortunately before departure (departure was only possible one day later). The furling mainsail did not have an endless line, which meant that it could not be operated from the cockpit and in my opinion therefore contradicts the intended comfort advantage of a furling mainsail (provisionally fixed by the charterer). One of the electric toilets made an extremely loud noise. The charter company on site was not motivated to investigate this (repair by the charterer). The internet connection on board did not work (repair also delayed departure by a day). The charterer did not want to take care of this at first. The rudder mechanism was not adjusted properly. The wire rope tension of the deflection mechanism was extremely overstretched, which led to extreme steering noises (unfortunately only discovered after departure, repair by the charterer). The anchor chain had no length markings (unfortunately only discovered after departure, workaround required every time we anchored). The handover of the yacht was such that the charter company only gave us the checklist and we were supposed to go through it ourselves. "If we have any questions, we can ask a member of staff at the jetty." The "preliminary" self-check may still be acceptable. But I think it is extremely negligent that the charter company does not carry out a final handover. There is no logbook. The life raft was not stored in the place marked for it. Regarding Bavaria itself: It is very surprising that some design defects have still not been remedied after decades of yacht construction. For example, the cover over the tank cap in the cockpit cannot be opened wide enough when the bathing platform is folded in (which is actually the norm when refueling). The fact that the engine/gearbox controls are still in the footwell is also incomprehensible. In principle, it should (also) be possible to operate the furling system independently from the cockpit. The fact that the bending radii of the sprayhood and bimini construction often lead to mutual jamming could also be easily solved technically. Bavvaria also still does not seem to be able to build a functioning display for the holding tank status. As always with Bavaria, this showed an alarm "holding tank 75%" as soon as we set off. As for what can be improved: last year we had a 6-year-old Bavaria from Pitter. It was in top condition visually and technically. Perhaps Garant Charter should ask how it can be done.
