List of defects on Vilma Dear Sir or Madam, our sailing crew, Irmgard and Hannes Hartl (skipper), Regina and Otto Kalab and Lilly Hoschek chartered a Bavaria Cruiser 41 “VILMA” built in 2019 from Kroki-Yachtcharter, Sukosan from June 29th to July 6th, 2024 for the price of 2,458 euros. All crew members have more than 40 years of sailing experience in different formations. When they took over the boat, our ladies noticed an unpleasant smell in the salon, but we didn’t attach any importance to it at the time. It was only later that it became apparent that both toilets on board were defective. During the trip, we found a number of defects on the “VILMA” that we have never found in this concentration on any of the more than 40 boats we have chartered to date. The list of defects is as follows in chronological order: June 29, 2024 • The front waste tank was probably already at least partially full when the boat was taken over. The reason for this was that the vent hose and the vent through the boat's hull were blocked, which meant that the tank emptied slowly and incompletely when the waste valve was opened. The Kroki Yacht Charter service crew should have identified and remedied this defect before the boat was handed over. This was also because dried traces of waste were visible along the boat's wall below the waste vent. • We did not want to spend the first night in the marina, but in the Luka Zdrelak, so we set sail late in the evening after stocking up on food. The bay was already occupied by a few sailing and motor boats, but we quickly found a safe place to anchor. However, the anchor did not hold even after six attempts at a water depth of 4 to 5 meters and 15 to 25 meters of anchor chain. Only when we chained the reserve anchor to the main anchor were we safely anchored. This ceremony was repeated in several bays. In addition, the thread for fixing the anchor control was worn out, so that the plug came loose several times during the anchoring maneuvers. June 30th, 2024 • The panel on the rear waste tank on the bottom right has come loose by around 2 to 3 cm. The retaining strap attached horizontally in the middle of the tank is intact; there is no apparent reason for the panel to have shifted. July 1st, 2024 • The first beautiful day of sailing with very good wind conditions. Unfortunately, the wind indicator does not work because the impeller is stuck in the mast top and does not rotate for the rest of the trip. • There is a backflow into the toilet in the front waste tank. The reason for this is the blocked ventilation and a corresponding overpressure in the tank due to using the toilet. After cleaning the ventilation - as far as possible from the outside - the tank only empties slowly and occasionally. From this point on, the front toilet was no longer used. The reason for the blockage in the vent line could have been that the fill level indicator for the waste water tank was also not working and was always showing 0 percent. July 2nd, 2024 • The autopilot literally gets out of control for no apparent reason and suddenly turns 90 degrees or more. This phenomenon also occurs when the motor is running in light waves if you change course by just 2 to 3 degrees. July 4th, 2024 • The paneling on the rear waste water tank has already been pushed out by around 10 cm. In the meantime, the retaining strap on the right-hand side of the tank has come loose because the anchor was only attached to the boat hull with two 15 mm long screws. • The indicator for the domestic water tank only started working on July 4th. Before that, the fill level was always shown as 100 percent, despite frequent use of the outside shower. • When filling the water tanks in the Murter marina, it turns out that the water hose on board is too short and only reaches from the filler neck in the bow to the bathing platform. • The cover in the middle section of the fastening line on the bow of the dinghy is no longer there, which makes it difficult to anchor securely. 5.7.2024 • When we took delivery of the GPS plotter, we complained about 6 to 7 black dots with a diameter of approx. 2 cm on the display because the menu entries in particular could no longer be deciphered. On July 5th, the plotter's display then failed completely. Since we were unable to enjoy our trip as planned due to the numerous defects, we are demanding that part of the charter fee be refunded and are awaiting your suggestion. Kind regards
